THE STORY OF GOEMA
This online exhibition looks at the origins and development of Goema, a musical genre that developed in the Cape through creolisation* and is mainly associated with the Cape Town Minstrels and their New Year celebrations. It offers an insight into the songs, dances and instruments associated with the music and highlights how Goema has influenced - and continues to influence - music in South Africa.
